It’s nearly four years since I made the tough decision to close Volume II, my much-loved bookstore in High Street.  But it has been a productive time, and I’m enjoying the great diversity of opportunities out there to talk about books.

I’m delighted at the numbers of requests for public speaking that I’m getting -- here in Edmonton and throughout Northern Alberta -- to talk with schools and libraries and community groups about books!  And, of course, I still have my weekly sessions with CBC RadioActive and Global Morning News, where we talk about books and the challenging business of books.

Many of you will know that I’m now working at Greenwoods’ on a regular part-time basis, both in the store (currently on Thursdays and Fridays) and as co-presenter of author events, both at Greenwoods’ and at out-of-store locations.  This has been a rewarding decision, as it helps ensure that I get my much needed “fix” of hand-selling books!
